One on my oldest and dearest friends Renee asked me last March to do something special for her. Her 97 year old grandmother was not doing very well, and she wanted a unique way to remember her when her time came to leave this world. She asked me if I would go to her nursing home and do a photo session of her, (she calls her Grandma “Mee Mee”) and then she wanted to make two photos books. Her plan was to give the photo books to her Mother and her Aunt when her Grandmother passed.
Very recently my dear friend lost her Grandmother. I asked her permission to share some of the photos that we captured of Mee Mee last March to share with others. She gave her books to her Mother and Aunt after the funeral, and they were very touched by Renee’s thoughtful idea.
Here is Renee’s beautiful Mee Mee.
This is so beautiful I can’t even talk right now – an amazing reminder of why I do what I do. I made my husband stop watching his movie and come look at these amazing images that made me cry. Thank-you so much for sharing this gorgeous goodbye to Mee-Mee.
my mom called her grandma mee mee as well. these are so beautiful. makes my heart ache.
awww jess, these pics are precious.
you have me in tears. this hits home so strongly, i cannot even begin to tell you how…
I see the family resemblance. Makes my heart sad to think of the day when I will not be able to visit with our grandma and watch the kids kiss and love her. I can see why she’s want these pictures to remember her by.
Love this…my maiden name Mee and gone back to it informally. Came on this site accidentally. My grand daughter calls me nanny name as she cannot say Renee. My deceased sister called me Nae too. I loved the photo with the grand daughter lying across her grandmother. My son in law a photographer, I hope he does something one day when it’s my time. What a beautiful tribute you have done.
