our last day. {personals from LA part III}

As we know, some good things must come to an end.  On our last day of our LA trip I finally went outside to walk around and snap a few shots of our nice home we rented.  My buddy Adin went with me, so we turned it into a mini-photography lesson.  My son Adin is so interested in photography. He is already shooting manually, and can already meter correctly!  Today we talked about light, and lenses. :)

First he did a little modeling by the amazing herb gardens in our back yard. Rosemary, and lavender everywhere….

how cute is my little man?

Then we started playing with light and shadows…Adin busted out a cartwheel.

Then Adin took the camera because he said he wanted a picture of “the pretty sky.”

If you are a Mama with a boy on the cusp of becoming a little man, you will know how special this photo is to me.  I am counting all the times my boy holds my hand.  I will always cherish these little moments.

Then we went around to the front.  We rented the first floor, and this was our front door. It was such a beautiful home.

As we were walking, I showed Adin how some lenses can make things look funny.  When he stood next to this 30 ft palm tree and I told him that I could take a photo of him by it and get the top, he didn’t believe me.  When I showed him, he wanted to try too.  He nailed it!  But- you will not see the photo he took of me.

A future lesson will be how you NEVER shoot women from below with a wide angle lens.  :)

So in the photography world we have many “friends” that we have actually never met in person.  :)  (Sounds a little crazy…but we live online) So I met Kristy aka “wreckless girl” of wreckless photography online a couple yrs. ago, and I just adore her heart + soul.   She is such an inspiration to me on so many levels.  When I heard she was going to be somewhat near, we chatted and she drove to meet me.  It is so funny to FINALLY meet someone you have emailed and shared tidbits of your heart with…she was even more precious in person.  Our meeting was very brief, but my kids loved her and she loved my kids too.  :)  Priya has no problems getting to know people.  When Brett took some photos of us, Priya had to jump right in.

So, you are photographers….you meet for 10 mins….what do you do?  You take photos doing really stupid things, that’s what you do.

Here is our BFF Senior photo first, and then our “thinking deeply” photo.  Perhaps we belong on the other side of the camera.  :)

Later that night we went to Tenmasa, a great little restaurant in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. that is known for it’s homemade Miso soup.  This is our friend Grecco, with Brett’s brother Jason. Brett and I first met Grecco back 11 years ago (WOW, seems like a lifetime ago), when we were in LA.  He is an AMAZING musician and singer, and he was so kind to let us use his song on our website. If you go to our wedding site, listen carefully and the second song is him.  :)

And I guess this concludes our trip…thanks for taking the time to look and keep up with it.  We are already getting a good amount of inquiries about coming back out there, so another West Coast trip is in the works.  If you are out there and interested in scheduling, please let us know.

Monday we will back to regular scheduled sessions.  :)
