Our daughter Priya has been obsessed lately with the “Little House on the Prairie” book series. She just reads and reads and reads…it’s a beautiful thing to see as a parent. She asked us if she could invite a couple friends over on Valentine’s Day to make the “heart-shaped cakes” that were made in those books. It just so happens that I bought her the cookbook of the “Little House” recipes, so we knew exactly how to make them, and they are super easy. We are not big Valentine’s people, but this was something fun to do. :)
The friends arrived, and we got the book out to look over the recipe and then we passed out aprons. Riah was feeling a little overwhelmed by girls.
We got all the utensils needed and all of our ingredients. Do you see Gabe’s head? He climbed up on the chair to get in on “the mix.” ;)
Cake making is so, so serious.
Pretty girl.
How many hands can you fit in a little bowl??!! I also find it funny that one of our photos made it into this photo!! HA!
Gabe was booted out.
Riah is shaving off some fresh nutmeg.
My pal Becky was their with her two girls. Little Addy is friends with little Gabe. :) Isn’t she beautiful?
Getting down to business, rolling out the dough.
Then we baked them, and as they were coming out of the oven, sprinkled a bit of sugar on them. They were more like little scones, but GOOD as could be!
And they went pretty darn fast.
Not enough sweets??? Well, remember the box of chocolates I mentioned in the last post that my Mom + Dad sent me? Oh yeah, that is just the top layer.
hmmm…..can you guess my favorite??? :)
I’m scared. I might eat the entire box…….like, this week. Help please?!!
It has been a while since Gabe has had his own post, all to himself…so I decided to show you some cute photos I got last night at bath time. Every now and then he takes a bath in the kitchen sink. He is always so cute in there- like his own little personal hot-tub. :)
Sweet little *twinkling* eyes.
He did a great big splash, and then looked to see if he was in trouble.
He kinda shocked himself.
After Baba got him out and dried him up, they went over to talk about the trees and the birdies.
He loves his froggie towel, and his froggie PJ’s.
I was working on this photo when my daughter walked down. She said, “Is that Adin?” (Which is my oldest of our 3 boys.) I said no. Then Adin walked in and I asked him who he thought this was, and he said, “Riah.” (Our middle son.) HA!! It makes me laugh how our kids kind of morph to look so much like on another. :)
In other news….just received a package. It was the most MONSTEROUS sized box of chocolates I have seen. It has to be like 20 pds. Not just any chocolates, but Aglamesis Brothers chocolates. I was not sure whether I was angry, or wanted to kiss my mother. I will take a photo later because it is CRAZY! :)
We have been working on commercial projects this month and last, and so not a lot to share on the blog. :( But, loads of stuff beginning next week.
You REALLY made me hungry! FABULOUS images!
these are all beautiful! such a sweet time :)
I always love your photos!! They are so clear and beautiful… and of course, you have a gorgeous family! So inspiring!
