Ok, I am still reflecting on 2008 over here, and it is not ending anytime soon. Maybe by the time January is over I will be in the 09 mindset. :) I am going to do a few posts showing some of our favorites from this past year, and I would love for you to vote for your favorite! In fact, let’s have a little friendly competition….In the comment box, vote the number of your favorite. Rules: You can only vote for one photo, and you HAVE TO TELL WHY you are voting for that photo, or it won’t count. The photo that receives the most votes, that person/family/couple will receive a complementary 8X10 from studio3z of their choice. Pretty cool huh? If you are a person who is looking to win, feel free to spam our blog on to every email you know!!! ;) Get the world you know voting.
****EDIT***** The deadline to vote on this entry is Monday morning (19th), 7am!
Now, on with the show. These are a few portraits of beautiful souls that stood out to me.

Each year we send out New Year’s cards. Last year was our first year with 4 kids, and when I saw a cool card that folded accordion style with 4 spaces on each side, I knew it would be great for our family. This year I contemplated doing a different style card just to change things up, but in the end we figured out that the card style we chose last year was THE BEST, and we better just stick to that. :)
Brett’s brother came into town from Los Angeles and surprised us on December 24th. As I was washing dishes from dinner he called and as we were chatting, he asked if I could come open the garage door. He does this all the time, and yet each time he still manages to completely surprise us. He stayed in town for a week and a half and we all had fun. (Many more photos coming from the fun we had…) During his stay we asked him to help us take photos for our New Year’s card, and then we got the oddest day where it was 70 degrees out. PERFECT! I did my usual….got the kids up from nap and without any thought to outfits, matching, etc. dressed them in something that was “them” and hoped for the best. (Works for me, but not really recommended. :) We headed out to my parents field, and went crazy for about 15 minutes. Here are of few of the treasures we came up with….some for our card, and some extras.
Love this one of all of us…
The front of our card shot:
Gabriel is just precious.
The boys with their Uncle J.
Adin, caught in a moment of stillness. I LOVE this.
My sweet girl. Just recently it is beginning to hit me how big she is getting.
My funny and charming boy Riah. :) His smile lights up any room he enters.
I seriously want to eat this child. My baby.
Adin’s new trick he learned. I almost used this for the card….but didn’t.
Us.
Our three boys. These cute little hats were made by my sister-in-law! She makes and sells some ADORABLE stuff….her info will be coming soon. :)
Uncle Jason with his babies. I love how much he loves them. I also love Adin’s face in this.
The front of the card…..
Opened up on one side….
And the other side, featuring all four beautiful babies. :)
Thanks for viewing! And once again Happy 2009 from our home to yours. :)
Numero Uno!!! That cute little bundle is screaming to be an 8×10….or maybe she is just cooing….I’ve never heard her scream. Oh yeah….her Mama is gorgeous too!
Tuff choice, there all beautiful.
I choose # 1 {Dana} because I love the sun flare, and because I have a 11 week old so I know how precious theses photos must be to her.
my fave in this round is between #2 Ashley and #6 Mary…i mean seriously are you gonna make me choose one or the other? if you’re gonna do that, then shoot bad pictures of ugly people.
#11 Mary. Because she looks cute and I love the green background.
AH! I love all these pictures! My vote goes to #8 (Hannah Banana). The lighting and shadows and textures… so flippin’ sweet. #3 (Mitch the Music Man) is also very cool.
I am also a fan of both of mine :) haha.
Megan! She is gorgeous!
new blog! and to priya–how could you vote for someone other than your polly?!?!?! :) just kidding. i vote for corinne–to be loyal to my BFF, but if i could, i’d also vote mary, too, because she is just as stinkin’ cute in real life as she is in these pictures.
I vote for Holly because she’s kinda…my girlfriend. :)
I vote #4. I heart rockstars.
#6..She looks like she could be a model. I love the whole vintage look. and her outfit and SHOES are adorable!!!
It’s between 2, 3 & 8 for me…but I think it will be 8
My hubby’s choice is 7 :)
I like all of them but my favorite is #7 – Meagan. She looks very natural and I love the background too. Since I know her in person, I know that it is so her, she doesn’t need to pose for the camera. You can get the camera and keep taking pictures without having her know about it and pretty much all of them will turn out great. This picture should be on a magazine cover!!!
# 11 Mary.
The composition is beautiful, and the contrast is incredible.
tough tough choices for sure! i’m going with #8 hannah, i do love the shadow/textures/composition. it’s all beautiful.
Too many choices! I vote #8 for Hannah. I love the lighting in this sooooo much!
Kaylie# What a fresh look. Its so innocent. It doesn’t look like a commercial popstar photo cover…just sweet.
I vote for #5 – Kaylie because I think she’s the most amazing person on the planet and also because this photo is amazing. It is so soft and honest and it looks as if you just caught her turning from a reflective moment.
Also, just want to say that #3 – Music Man is incredible!
I’d like to vote for Holly. This picture truly captures her personality and I love the colors. :)
hello-fellow photog here! i love your work & enjoy following your blog. i would pick #7-it’s soulful and speaks to me! love the vintage feel of it.
#1 because a.) I wish I had a picture of myself just like it when I was preggo b.) sun flare c.) textures/patterns/colors rock d.) she will undoubtedly love it!

#6 Mary…hope I’m not too late! Great stuff Jessica!
#6 Mary is the coolest senior picture I’ve every seen!! It belongs in a magazine!
I goggled The Wading Girl, which lead me to Billy Wallace, which linked me to your website, finally landing me here to the picture of Dana, my firstborn carrying her firstborn. What a beatific pic of my Dana. Today is 9-21-09, two days before Dana’s due date for her second child’s birth.
